Nitek is a pioneer in the field of III-Nitride semiconductors with special emphasis on manufacturing ultraviolet light emitting diodes using next generation novel materials such as high quality aluminum nitride (AlN) and aluminum gallium nitride (AlGaN). The company was launched in early 2007 with the goal of commercializing III-Nitride technologies. It is a spin-off from Prof. Asif Khan’s Photonics and Microelectronics Laboratory at the University of South Carolina.
